Stephen, I’m just wondering, can CBD hemp help with cancer?
That is a loaded question, Emily. So, I’m going to answer this in three different parts. The first part when it comes to some of the science that’s coming out with using things like CBD to actually kill cancer cell lines, we do see some really interesting preliminary data. I think we need a lot more research to really make a definite claim that these types of products are a curative thing for cancer. So, I’m not comfortable saying that right now.
The other parts of that question or answering that question is, what’s a quality of life for the patient with cancer? That is maybe undergoing chemotherapy, undergoing radiation therapy. We see a lot of nausea, we see a lot of inappetences, we see a lot of discomfort for those patients. And this is definitely where CBD CBDA products can be beneficial. In fact, there’s a lot of good studies showing that adding in a cannabinoid product with chemotherapy can actually mitigate some of these negative side effects that we see with chemotherapy or radiation therapy treatment.
And then the third part to answer that question comes from using these products to actually decrease how much chemotherapy a patient is getting. So again, this is preliminary studies, I’m not comfortable putting my name to that or saying this is the answer, but some of these preliminary studies are showing when you add in a CBD product, you can actually decrease the dose of chemotherapy, which is going to be great because we’re mitigating, again, some of those negative side effects we see related to that type of treatment.
