Helping Mums with Breastfeeding
This is one of, I think, one of the most important things that can be helped from the treatment that we can offer at the Perrymount Clinic, and that is, if a baby is not breastfeeding well.
Maybe the latch isn’t so good, or very commonly, they breastfeed good on one side and they’re not very good on the other.
And, you could be having loads of trouble on one side.
They’re taking air in, you could be in pain and you’re upset about the feeding.
You’re worried about how much they’re taking in, and you might want to just give up.
But, you’re desperate not to.
So, if a baby has had some sort of delivery where they might have got stuck, and their head is looking in one direction, so they favour looking in one direction – it’s usually the right-hand side – so their head turns mainly to one side.
That will mean that they will breastfeed better when they can face this side, and they are not so good when they’ve got to turn their head this way to feed usually off the mums right side is not so good.
So, the solution here is to calm and relax your baby and get them able to look both ways, and then they will be able to breastfeed on both sides, and that is so helpful for a mum.
