DISCUSSION | Verification process of foreign nationals living Cape Town CBD

The verification process has begun for foreign nationals living in the Cape Town CBD. This after the Western Cape High Court on Monday gave the City a period of seven days to do the verification operation with Home Affairs.
The City will remove the immigrants from the streets and sidewalks around Greenmarket Square, in line with the court order. About a thousand people have been living there since November last year, after being forcibly removed from outside the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. They want to leave South Africa because they don’t feel safe.
Home Affairs Minister Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi joins us from our Cape Town studios and Jean-Pierre Balous, a refugee activist in South Africa is on the line.
